Ting Ting
Aspiring therapist | A safe space | Sometimes anxious person
About this session :)
Hi there! My name's Ting Ting. I'm currently a fourth-year student studying Psychology at NUS! To be honest, I'm still figuring out the direction I want to pursue long-term, whether it be counselling or clinical psychology. Regardless of the path I take in the future, however, I'll always be ready to lend a helping ear to anyone who needs it! Growing up, I developed low self-esteem and anxiety due to an unhealthy family environment that didn't provide the support and guidance I needed to express my emotions healthily. As a result, I developed maladaptive behaviours to cope with difficult situations. When I was tempted to start bottling up my emotions, however, I observed my peers who constantly did so reacting aggressively or negatively whenever they inevitably reached their breaking point, which would hurt themselves and the people who cared for them. Because of this, I resolved to always be open about my personal struggles! I've since shared many of my thoughts and feelings with those around me, and doing so has allowed me to both minimise my maladaptive behaviours and offered me many different perspectives on life. I can honestly say that I am still here today because of my partner, friends, and professionals who supported me during my time of need. Their warmth, kindness, understanding, and support have inspired me to show others they are loved, valued, and deserving of others' time and help. Life is beautiful. Not in spite of our hardships but because we all have a hidden strength that allows us to find a way through. You are already showing that strength by coming to this website to talk to us. You are already showing that strength by taking the time to come to this website to talk to us and I applaud you for that :) My personal journey isn't yet complete, as I'm constantly still in the process of learning, recovering and growing! While I do so, I'd like to support others on their own journeys of recovery as well, offering them a safe space to share their thoughts and feelings. Remember, you're not and you'll never be alone. As kind Mr Rogers once said, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping." Please feel free to contact me so that I can help you!
